ONE MOVE. TWO THINGS TO NOTICE.

Read the drop, not just the word.

These are real game captures from Drop #54, checked October 19, 2026. They explain one move, not today’s full solution or an optimal route.

01 Before: PAT selected
Official Wordchute board with P in row one, column two, A in row two, column one and T in row two, column two selected.
P → A uses a diagonal; A → T goes sideways. All three tiles are in the active board.
02 After: three tiles cleared
Official Wordchute board after PAT clears, with new letters at the top of the first two active columns.
Only columns one and two change. PAT earned 90 points and cleared 3 of 32 tiles.

Count cleared cells by column.

PAT removes one tile from column one and two from column two. The remaining letters fall vertically; they do not slide sideways to fill a gap.

Predict the next top row.

In this example, the active top row changes from R P N R to A E N R. N and R in columns three and four stay put. Looking at the waiting letters helps you anticipate those new neighbours.

A good word is not a guarantee.

This checks one legal move and its drop. It does not establish that PAT is the best opening or preserves a full-clear route. Before your next word, inspect what it leaves behind.

PROGRESS BEFORE POINTS

Why a bigger score can rank lower.

The global board ranks tiles cleared first, then score. A longer word is worth more points, but clearing fewer tiles can still leave you below a player with a lower score.

A three-letter word earns 90 points; each extra letter adds 70. A full clear adds 900 points. Discovery stars have separate bonuses—see the official scoring rules for the full details.

Wordchute questions, answered.

What is Wordchute?

Wordchute is a daily word strategy game by Colin Hanson. Connect at least three touching letters on a 4×4 board. Accepted words disappear, letters fall down their columns, and the goal is to clear all 32 letters, including those waiting above the board.

Can I play for free in a browser?

Yes. The official daily game and published past boards are free, with no signup or download needed for browser play. The creator also offers mobile apps. The Play on official site link is the best fallback if embedded play cannot save or load your progress.

When does the daily board reset?

At 5 a.m. New York time (America/New_York), following daylight saving time. That is 09:00 UTC during Eastern Daylight Time and 10:00 UTC during Eastern Standard Time. Everyone gets the same daily board.

Why can a higher score rank below a lower score?

The official global board ranks tiles cleared first, then score. Compare the number of cleared tiles before comparing points. Equal progress and score share a place; finalization time only orders the display within a tie.

Do hints, undo and restart affect a run?

A hint or Show a solution makes that run and later runs on the same board assisted and excludes them from rankings; earlier unassisted results still count. Undo or restart starts a new run from the chosen position. Check the official rules before using these controls if rankings matter to you.

Is every position still solvable?

The creator says each daily starting board has multiple full-clear routes. That does not mean every sequence of valid words preserves a full clear. Each move changes which letters touch; no valid word remaining ends the run.
